  1. The new drug to treat osteoporosis.?

    September 4, 2010, 5:03 am
My sister is diabetic. About 7 mos ago, she fell and fractured her wrist in several places, needing a plate screwed into place to fix it. Last week she stood up, but couldn't put weight on her foot, which caused her to lose her balance and fall. On x-ray found 3 broken bones. Her stupid doctor has not put her on any type of calcium. I read that there is a new drug which helps strengthen bones, but I can't find the article. Does anyone know anything about this?

  8. What will a bone density test reveal?

    August 26, 2010, 2:16 am
I'm thinking about getting a bone density screening done. They'll have them at the pharmacy at work for $10, I just figure this was a "cheat" way to check on myself without seeing a doctor. How do they check your bone density, and WHAT is the point of it? Like what will it reveal? I'm anorexic, being 5'1" and weighing 78 pounds, my period has been absent for 5 months. Will they be able to tell I have an eating disorder from this test? I don't want anybody at work to find out. In response to "RN", when you said "When people choose to be anorexic..." Nobody CHOOSES this disease. It's a psychological illness, like depression. No one chooses THAT either. Please choose your words more carefully!!!
